TUITION AND FEES FALL 2015 - SUMMER 2016

Subscription fees for Competency based Education:

How We Do It

KSU has not raised tuition rates since inception, demonstrating our commitment to keeping tuition low and maximizing the value and affordability of all of our online degree programs.

At KSU, tuition is charged at a flat rate each year and covers all coursework and credit hour reviews completed in that time. The more courses you complete each year, the more affordable your degree becomes.

Each KSU year is twelve months long and can begin on the first of any month. Unlike other schools, you aren't charged per course or per credit, so if you earn your degree ahead of schedule, you save both time and money.

TUITION COST BREAKDOWN

All religious degrees $5000 per year
All avocational degrees $4000 per year
RESOURCE FEE: $145 PER YEAR NON-REFUNDABLE
APPLICATION FEE: $50 NON-REFUNDABLE
DIPLOMA AND TRANSCRIPT FEE $500 per degree

Note:

KSU does not “profit” from application fees, as they help offset only a small portion of enrollment and admissions costs. KSU charges a $145 Resource Fee each year. This fee helps cover your use of the online library, e-textbooks, and many other learning resources. With few exceptions, required textbooks are available as e-textbooks, so you won’t have to purchase hard copy textbooks.

Special Fees: (Apply to Select Programs)

Science Lab Fee: $350 (one time)

Individuals pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in science education will require a home science lab and will be assessed this one-time charge (billed separately along with the first year's tuition).

Demonstration Teaching (standard): $1,000

Individuals enrolled in a Teachers College program that includes student teaching must pay a $100 application fee, plus a $900 demonstration teaching fee prior to their in-classroom teaching practicum.

Educational Leadership Practicum: $1,000 (one time)

Individuals in the Educational Leadership Endorsement Preparation program or the Master of Science program will be assessed this one-time fee in their last year as they complete their practicum experience.

How Tuition Works

KSU treats all students as "full-time" and charges tuition at a flat rate regardless of the number of competency units (credit equivalents) attempted or completed by the student in a twelve month term*. The "standard term" is based on completion of at least 24 competency units per term for undergraduate (bachelor’s) students and 16 competency units per term for graduate (master’s) students. Students who complete more or fewer units are charged the same tuition rates (see above).

Tuition Covers:

24/7 access to your course materials and the KSU student portal, our online "campus."

Course assessments (subject to guidelines for individual assessments and the number of "re-takes" allowed)

Continuous one-to-one faculty support

The recognized industry certifications which are incorporated into many KSU degree programs

*Note: Tuition does not cover some selected other materials or special fees required for some courses and degree programs.
